Nyquist frequency: (fs > 2f)
The Nyquist frequency is the minimum sampling frequency needed to accurately represent a signal. The minimum sampling frequency must be greater than twice the highest signal frequency (fs > 2f).
Formulas:
(1 / 2Ts ) ≥ (1 / T )
One half the sampling frequency must be greater than or equal to the signal frequency.
(1 / Ts) ≥ (2 / T)
The sampling frequency must be greater than or equal to twice the signal frequency.
(fs) ≥ (2B)
Sampling frequency must be greater than or equal to twice the signal frequency (Bandwidth)
- fs = sampling frequency
- Ts = sampling period
- 1 / 2Ts = half the sampling frequency
- B = bandwidth = f = 1/T
